Armour - Full Suit of Gothic Armour RENTAL

The Gothic Armour is a fully articulated suit of reproduction medieval armour. It comes complete with a sword belt and bucket-top boots (limited range of sizes available).

We do not hire out swords, as our insurance will not cover this. If you choose to purchase a sword from us we recommend any of the re-enactment range as they come complete with scabbard and do not have an edge or sharp point which makes them more acceptable for carrying in public.

Size Range:

Height:
For a comfortable fitting suit with full mobility we would recommend a height of between 5’10” and 6’2". Any taller or shorter and movement becomes restricted. This armour is better for taller people.

Waist:
For a fully enclosed breastplate, we would recommend a waist size of no larger than 36”. The breastplate can accommodate up to a 46” waist. Close fitting clothes should be worn under the armour.

Chest:
There is normally no problem with chest size; if your waist is small enough to fit in the armour, then your chest normally is too. If you do think there may be a problem with your chest size please contact us for guidance.

Remember, the amour is made of steel and has no give in it. It is constructed to fit somebody of average/large size and build. If you are not in this category then movement may be severely restricted. If in doubt, please send us your measurements and/or a photograph.

As with the originals, it is impossible to dress/undress yourself in the armour and you will need somebody to help you in both tasks. Somebody is needed to remove the helmet although tilting the visor up so that people can see your face is possible to do yourself.

The armour itself weighs in at around 15-20kg. This does not feel too heavy as the weight is dispersed over your entire body. Most of the weight rests on your shoulders and this can be quite painful if worn for long periods of time.

It is near impossible to wear this armour in a car seat and we recommend that it be worn when needed only and removed before a car journey. It can get quite hot and stuffy in the armour and if worn in hot weather it is advisable to stay out of direct sunlight (if you stand there for too long you will cook!) and to keep your fluid levels high. It is possible to urinate whilst wearing the armour although there is no chance of sitting on the toilet whist armoured!
