Terms and Conditions

• Definitions
  The "hirer" shall mean the person, company, firm or other body taking the Suit of Armour/ Costume on hire and includes their successors and/or personal representatives. The hirer has the sole responsibility for the Suit of Armour/ Costume until it is returned/ sent back to The Knight Shop Ltd.
  
  The Suit of Armour/ Costume is the article that The Knight Shop Ltd agrees to hire to the hirer.
  
  The "hire period" is the period from the time the hirer takes possession of the Suit of Armour/ Costume until the Suit of Armour/ Costume is returned to The Knight Shop Ltd.
  
  
• Ownership of Suits of Armour
  The Suit of Armour/ Costume remains the property of The Knight Shop Ltd. The hirer purchases only the limited right to use the Suit of Armour/ Costume for the agreed hire period.
  
  
• You must be over 18 years of age to make a booking.
  
  
• Payment of Hire Charges
  The total hire price must be paid to book a Suit of Armour/ Costume. No Suit of Armour/ Costume will be booked or put to one side without payment. Payment of the full cost of hiring the Suit of Armour/ Costume is payable to The Knight Shop Ltd by the hirer at the commencement of the booking period. The cost of hire is as published however The Knight Shop Ltd reserves the right to change it any time.
  
  
• Security Deposits
  
  A security deposit of £500 for each Suit of Armour hired and £300 per Costume hired is also payable by the hirer to The Knight Shop Ltd at the commencement of the hire period. This deposit shall be promptly refunded to the hirer upon return of the Suit of Armour/ Costume in good condition. The deposit shall not form part of the assets of The Knight Shop Ltd unless and until it is forfeited by the hirer failing to return the Suit of Armour/ Costume in good condition on or before the date agreed. If, after the agreed date, the Suit of Armour/ Costume is not returned, The Knight Shop Ltd reserves the right to keep the deposit plus the reasonable cost of lost hires through the Suit of Armour/ Costume not being available from the agreed date of return.
  
  
• Advance booking
  The Suit of Armour/ Costume may be booked up to six months in advance by leaving the booking fee at the time of booking. Booking means that The Knight Shop Ltd will not offer the booked Suit of Armour/ Costume to anyone else on the agreed dates. The Knight Shop Ltd will take all reasonable care to have the Suit of Armour/ Costume available on the agreed dates but will not be responsible for any losses or consequential losses if the Suit of Armour/ Costume is not available on the agreed dates.
  
  
• Cancellations
  The hirer may cancel a booking at any time up to one week before the commencement of the agreed hire period without penalty. Cancellations made less than a week before the agreed hire period start date will incur a 50% charge of the total hire cost.
  
  
•  Returning the Suit of Armour/Costume
  The hirer is responsible for the costs of returning the Suit of Armour/ Costume to The Knight Shop Ltd on or before the date agreed.
  
  
•  Lost or Damaged Suit of Armour
  The hirer will pay The Knight Shop Ltd the replacement costs plus the reasonable cost of lost hires while the Suit of Armour/ Costume is unavailable of all hired Suits of Armour lost during the hire period through whatever cause. The Suits of Armour hired out by The Knight Shop Ltd are not to be used for combat purposes.
  Suits of Armour/ Costumes are hired out undamaged. If the Suit of Armour/ Costume is found to be damaged on return The Knight Shop Ltd reserve the right to charge the hirer for all repair costs up to and including the replacement price of the Suit of Armour/ Costume plus the reasonable cost of lost hires while the Suit of Armour/ Costume is unavailable.
  
  
• Late Return
  The Knight Shop Ltd reserves the right to charge additional hire for Suits of Armour/ Costumes not returned by the date agreed at a pro rata rate. Pre-arranged additional hire days, agreed by The Knight Shop Ltd, will be charged at £25 per Suit of Armour and £20 Costume per day. Extra hire days not pre-agreed by The Knight Shop Ltd will be charged at the rate of £50 per Suit of Armour and £40 per Costume per day.
  
  
• Customers who do not return costumes will be prosecuted.
  
  
• Alterations to Suit of Armour
  The hirer may not alter or modify the Suit of Armour/ Costume without the knowledge and consent of The Knight Shop Ltd who may at their discretion refuse such consent or require additional payment.
  
  
• Re-hiring etc.
  The Suits of Armour/ Costumes shall not be re-hired, sub-let or loaned to any third party without the knowledge and consent of The Knight Shop Ltd who may at their discretion refuse such consent or require additional payment.
  
  
• Privacy Policy
  The Knight Shop Ltd is committed to protecting your privacy. We will only use the information that we collect about you lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
  The Knight Shop Ltd collects information about you for three reasons: firstly, to process your hire, to establish your identity and third, to provide you with the best possible service.
  The Knight Shop Ltd will not contact you other than to complete the hire and return of your costume order unless you have given us your explicit consent to contact you for other reasons.
  The Knight Shop Ltd will give you the chance to refuse any marketing contacts from us or from another trader in the future.
  The type of information The Knight Shop Ltd will collect about you includes:
  your name
  address
  telephone numbers
  e-mail addresses
  credit/debit card details.
  The Knight Shop Ltd will never collect sensitive information about you without your explicit consent.
  The personal information that The Knight Shop Ltd holds will be held securely in accordance with our internal security policy and the law.
  
  
• Consequential losses
  Although all reasonable care is taken to provide the hirer with Suits of Armour/ costumes of merchantable quality and to protect the wearer from harm The Knight Shop Ltd shall be in no circumstances liable for loss or injury or damage to property resulting from the using or wearing of Suits of Armour/ Costumes howsoever caused.
  
  
• Conditions of business
  All hire agreements with The Knight Shop Ltd shall be subject to these conditions of business and no other. No variation of the terms shall be valid unless agreed in writing and signed on behalf of the hirer and The Knight Shop Ltd.
  
  
• Variations and waivers
  The Knight Shop Ltd may at their discretion waive or vary any of these conditions. Such variations and waivers will only have force if noted in writing and signed on behalf of The Knight Shop Ltd.
  Although every care is taken, The Knight Shop Ltd cannot be held responsible for costumes that are sent out via mail order and do not fit.
  The Knight Shop Ltd reserves the rights to substitute a similar item if the advertised item is unavailable for the booked hire period. The Knight Shop Ltd endeavours to contact the hirer in this situation.
  
  
• Assignment of rights and liabilities
  All agreements made between The Knight Shop Ltd and the hirer are individual to the hirer who shall not assign those rights or liabilities under any agreement subject to these conditions.
